Black ceramic is a high-tech engineered material. It's harder than steel, lighter than tungsten, and the color is permanent. Unlike black-coated metal rings (PVD or IP plating) that wear off at the edges over time, the OAKLAND's black goes all the way through. It won't fade, chip color, or develop bare patches.
Ceramic is highly scratch-resistant but brittle under sharp impact. Drop it on a hard surface and it can chip. The flip side: in an emergency, ceramic rings can be cracked off the finger quickly with standard ER tools.
